Shirley-jane took over The Cavendish Arms in September 2007 and after closing for 4 weeks for refurbishments reopened the pub and welcomed both locals and newcomers alike to the cosy pub. On the 17th November, The Ballroom music venue contained within the pub, opened to a hugely successful day of music and comedy.
Being a musician herself and having played in numerous live music venues over the past 12 years, Shirley-jane has been able to design a music venue from scratch which has therefore been created by a musician for musicians and takes into account as many ‘loves’ or ‘hates’ about other music venues that she can think of! Small things like being able to leave the stage via a stage door rather than into the audience, having overnight equipment storage, a dressing room and a friendly promoter and sound engineer are all essential according to Shirley-jane… as is a clean and beautiful venue with a stage and fantastic sound system!
UPDATE! As of the beginning of April, we are very pleased to welcome Dani Moubarak to our team. We are over the moon that Dani has accepted the role of Assistant Events Manager as she brings with her a wealth of experience in this field plus an abundance of the prerequisite friendliness that The Cavendish prides itself on. Although in a new role here, Dani isn't new to the Cavendish as she promotes and also presents LONDON UNPLUGGED (every first Thursday of the Month) and MONSTER BAND NIGHT (First Wednesday of the month however see listings for rescheduled April/Maydates) |
